A campaign sends an approved WhatsApp template to a list of customers, right away or at a time you choose. Whapiz sends the messages gradually and shows a delivery, read and reply report for each campaign. Only a user with the Admin profile creates and sends campaigns, and the number of campaigns per month depends on your plan.
First: only people who agreed
A marketing campaign message is an advertisement. In Israel, section 30A of the Communications Law (the "spam law") also covers WhatsApp messages:
- Send advertising only to people who gave explicit consent in advance. There is a narrow exception for existing customers, under conditions set in the law.
- Every message must say it is an advertisement, name your business with a way to contact you, and explain how to ask to be removed.
- Anyone who asks to be removed, in any way, must not receive more advertising from you.
Meta's WhatsApp rules also require the customer's opt-in before you message them and require you to honour requests to stop. Other countries have similar laws. Whapiz doesn't mark people who asked to be removed automatically, so keep your own list and take out everyone who asked before every campaign. This is general information, not legal advice.
Create a campaign
- In the side menu, under Administration, click Campaigns, then New Campaign.
- In the Create New Campaign window, fill in the Campaign Name and choose a Type. Each field opens once the one before it is filled.
- Choose the WhatsApp Connection you send from, then a Template. Only approved templates of the number you chose are listed.
- If the template has variables, enter a value for each under Template Parameters. These values go to every recipient.
- In Language, choose the template's language, as approved at Meta.
- To schedule, pick a date and time in Schedule Send (optional). Leave it empty to send manually.
- At the bottom of the window you set the pace: Daily Limit (messages per day), Batch Size (messages per round) and Interval (min) (minutes between rounds).
- Click Confirm. The campaign is saved as a Draft, or as Scheduled if you chose a time.
Add recipients
- In the campaign list, click Add Recipients next to the campaign, and on the page that opens click Add Recipients again.
- Choose a tab: CSV Upload (columns phone, name, and var1 to var3 for a personal value in each variable), Manual Entry (one number per line, in international format such as 972501234567) or From Contacts.
- We recommend ticking Safety Filter: Only contacts with chat history, which keeps only people who have already written to your business.
- Click Import and check the summary: how many were imported, duplicates and invalid numbers.
Send and track
- Send a draft campaign with Send Campaign and confirm. A scheduled campaign goes out by itself at the set time, as long as it has recipients.
- Messages go out in rounds. Between rounds, and when the daily limit is reached, the status is Paused and sending carries on by itself. You can also Pause, Resume and Stop.
- On the campaign's page (View Stats) you see Sent, Delivered, Read and Failed, the Delivery Rate and Read Rate, and Came from the campaign: customers who replied.
- The Failed tab lists every recipient whose message didn't go through, with the reason in the Error column.
The conversation of a customer who replied to a campaign is marked in the conversation list with an orange label showing the campaign's name.
Tips
- Send the campaign to your own number first (with Manual Entry), and only then to the whole list.
- When many messages fail in a row, the campaign stops and waits for you. Check Failed before you click Resume.
- For a template with an image header, paste a permanent link to the image in the Header Image URL field.
- Meta charges for template messages at its own rates, directly to your business account.
